Jaguar unveils F-Type Heritage 60 Edition

Limited edition 575hp model commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Jaguar E-Type

You can trust JLR to never miss a birthday. Today it has notified us that in 2021 it will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Jaguar E-Type by introducing a commemorative F-Type – the Heritage 60 Edition. Limited to just 60 examples world-wide, the new model is based on the 575hp all-wheel-drive R variant and features solid Sherwood Green paint alongside a number of detailed interior changes.

Now, if we were betting men, we'd be inclined to suggest that this won't be the only way Jaguar chooses to celebrate sixty years of one of the most iconic cars ever made next year. It has already announced the 60 Edition Collection – six pairs of fully restored E-Types to mimic the original Geneva show cars – but clearly it feels like a celebratory F-Type (the E-Type's 'spiritual successor', after all) is a sensible way to keep the ball rolling. Certainly a starting price of £122,500 makes all kinds of sense to the manufacturer (the standard P575 starts at £97,315) – although you'd imagine it does rather limit the Heritage to devotees.

Naturally that will suit SV Bespoke, the team responsible for coming up with the car. You probably need to be a diehard fan to get the required kick out of the interior's extended duo-tone Caraway and Ebony Windsor leather trim (a combination not usually available on the the F-Type). Ditto the unique console finisher inspired by the E-Type's rear-view mirror casing or the badging it shares with the 60 Edition Collection. It's always possible that some of the Heritage buyers will already be established customers of Jaguar Classic. Just a thought.

Regardless, the car is mechanically identical to the F-Type R, available to order in either Convertible or Coupe body styles from now. Clare Hansen, Director of Vehicle Personalisation at SVO, commented: "The F-TYPE Heritage 60 Edition is a fantastic example of what the SV Bespoke team is capable of. Marrying E-type inspired detailing with new F-TYPE gave us an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the heritage of Jaguar's legendary sports cars. With unrivalled access to original drawings, paint codes and reference materials, working hand-in-hand with our colleagues at Jaguar Classic, we've created a distinctive and highly collectible interpretation of the definitive Jaguar sports car."
