Rumour: Next-gen Ford Endeavour to be a plug-in hybrid

It will also be offered with a 3.0-litre, V6 diesel from the current F-150 pick-up truck.

According to a media report, the next-generation Ford Endeavour is likely to switch to a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The report states that the Endeavour, which is also known as the Everest in some markets, will get three engine options. These include a new 2.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a plug-in hybrid system. Its combined output is expected to be 365 BHP and 680 Nm.

Besides this, the SUV is likely to retain the 2.0-litre, twin-turbo diesel producing 210 BHP / 500 Nm. It will also be offered with a 3.0-litre, V6 diesel with 250 BHP / 600 Nm. This engine currently powers the F-150 pick-up truck. The report suggests that all three engines will be offered with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

In the international market, Ford is expected to introduce a new variant of the Endeavour called the Wildtrak X. Besides all-wheel drive, this off-road focused variant will get Bilstein shock absorbers, BF Goodrich all-terrain tyres, rock sliders and other upgrades.

The next-generation Ford Endeavour is expected to make its global debut in 2022.
