Since DIRT 5 launched in November, things have been a little quiet on the post-launch goodies front. Although Codemasters has been hard at work fixing some of the game’s issues, and adding wheel support, there hasn’t really been any new stuff since day one — festive themed “Snow Limits” pack aside.
That’s all set to change in the coming months though, as the developer has revealed on social media that the DLC will start to land across the course of 2021. It’s particularly good news for those of you who picked up the Amplified Edition, which includes free access to all paid DLC and further exclusive content.
Codemasters hasn’t revealed a precise strategy for the DLC, so we don’t yet know what’s coming or when, but we do now have an overall look at the plans for 2021.
It goes without saying that this starts with new cars. DIRT 5‘s car list isn’t huge, but it does cover a pretty broad spread of rally machinery, including some of the all-time greats, so it’ll be interesting to see how Codemasters plans on expanding it. There’s new tracks planned too, although it’s not clear if this covers new locations or new layouts on the existing ones — or both.
Of all the content planned, the cars and tracks are the most likely to be covered by paid DLC packs (included at no extra charge to Amplified Edition owners), but there’s more besides. In particular, the Playgrounds feature looks set for an expansion, with new Playgrounds locations and hundreds of new objects.
There’ll be new customization options too, including 40 new liveries and further livery editor options — as well as profile customization items. In addition, Codemasters is promising to expand DIRT 5‘s features list with private online lobbies, multi-class racing, event ghosts and “more unannounced features”.
As for precisely what’s in the DLC and when it’s coming… well, we’ll just have to wait and see. We’ll bring you more information when we have it.
